First Devlog (seeing how this works)
Hi, nothing much to say here. This is just my first devlog, and I'm testing this to see how it all works. I plan to use this more often if I gain any type of following. In the meantime, I'll just copy/paste the changelog I have so far, and then also make a quick list of features I plan to work on for Janko :)
Jank Build v.3.0 (first combat update)
-Added combat system
-press spacebar to toggle combat on/off
-replaces cursor with crosshair. click to shoot
-currently unlimited ammo, firerate
-limited range, projectiles dissapear after a short time
-added enemy shark + basic AI
-enemy follows player if player approaches, will back away if player runs away
-enemy can deal damage, also takes damage
-added enemy spawn locations
-enemies spawn within a set area. Will respawn over time if killed
-player now has health, can also die
-adjusted player movement speed, acceleration, and turning speed
Jank Build v.2.0 (first UI update)
-Improved UI
-Cool new font
-Added UI for player inventory space
-Simplified buying/selling by having a flat buy/sell rate per city
-button in game to access title screen, settings, and exit game
-settings to change music and SFX volume
-button to close settings
-Added a title screen
-has buttons to start game, access settings, and to exit the game
-Added world border
-red "X"s block player from leaving playing area
-these will be removed later and replaced with something better
-Added music and sound effects
-stole music online for the title screen and the game. Also stole SFX for clicking and coin sounds
-Volume can be adjusted in settings
-Will want custom/original music/sfx later
Jank Build V.1.0
-First version
-Player can move around
-Player can buy/sell at different towns
-4 trade goods (Wood, Grain, Iron, Sugar)
-This was created after v.1.0 release, so i don't remember much
Features to implement
- Bigger/better map
- new textures

- better attacks (right now they just ram into you and that's it)

- different AI, shoots at player rather than closing in all the way

- 'nuff said. Add things like rum, silk, tools, bread, salt, etc. Brainstorming required.
- Update trade system
- Implement production system. Buy raw goods (iron, sugar, grain, wood), deliver to production cities to process goods
- Iron -> Tools

- Wood -> Furniture
- Wood will likely be a crafting resource for ship upgrades and repairs
- Only buy goods at places where they are produced (who goes to Woodrun to buy sugar???)
- Only sell goods at locations where they aren't produced, or...
- Incentivize player to buy goods from one location and deliver to another
- Implement production system. Buy raw goods (iron, sugar, grain, wood), deliver to production cities to process goods
